The 2017 John Deere RSX860i, replacing the previous model RSX850i. The 2017 John Deere RSX860i provides improved performance and ease of operation for Gator customers. Updated features, including a new power steering option and backlit toggle switches, improve the handling of the utility vehicle without compromising performance. Changes to increase the speed, add power direction and increase warranty were made with the consumer in mind, and are based on customer feedback and market-driven research.
“Each fit and addition made to the RSX860i comes as a result of our team actively listening to customer feedback,” said Mark Davey, John Deere Marketing manager for Gator utility vehicles. “The maximum speed has been one of the priorities that we have examined with these updates and we have been able to increase the maximum speed of 60 mph (97 km/h).”
The maximum engine speed increased from 7250 rpm to 7750 rpm, allowing the RSX860i to increase by 10 percent at top speed over the previous model. The management of Electric Power Support (EPAs) is now an option in model 2017. The Anti-kickback function reduces the amount of unwinding direction when operated through demanding terrain. The system also detects speed and adjusts the steering effort as the speed of vehicle changes for improved terrain feeling and maneuverability. All AAE-equipped vehicles are pre-wired for a winch. Utility vehicles with a winch-ready chassis considerably reduce winch installation time. The winch components that are pre-installed include a wiring harness, a negative battery cable, and a disconnect wire harness.
To facilitate early morning/evening operation, the factory-installed toggle switches are now backlit for easy identification. To reduce noise, the frontal differential is a spiral conical design. The helical design of this gear set is stronger and produces less vibration and noise compared to the straight cutting gears found in many competitive vehicles. Steering knuckles and control arms are also painted pole-machining to prevent rust and discoloration for a lasting aesthetic appearance. The RSX860i comes with a factory warranty of 12 months or 1,000 hours, twice that of many competitive recreational vehicles. The machine can also be ordered in the traditional John Deere green and yellow or ™ HD REALTREE HARDWOODS® camouflage.
